Mary Carreau Timberlake

Mary Carreau Timberlake, age 95, died peacefully at home in Pelham Manor, NY on September 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers.
A lifelong resident of Pelham Manor, NY, Mary was known for her elegance, strength of character, tenacity to never give up, loyalty and boundless energy. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was born in New York City on November 12, 1921 to Alys (Sinclair) Carreau and Joseph Stanislaus Carreau. She was one of three siblings, brother, Joseph Carreau, who died in 1969 and sister, Martha Carreau, who died in 2008.
Mary attended the Pelham Day School, Miss Hall’s boarding school, the Spence School and Sarah Lawrence College.
She married her beloved husband, Shelby V. Timberlake Jr. on May 29, 1944. He passed away in 1999,
She is survived by three daughters, Lauren Brady (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC, Pamela Steudler (Paul) of Falmouth, MA and Elizabeth Timberlake of Mystic, CT.
She has three grandchildren, Kirstin Steudler of Pocasset, MA, Timothy Steudler (Raphaella) of Los Angeles, CA and Thomas Brady (Justin) of Charlotte, NC and three great grandchildren, Luna Bella Lima Steudler and Zoey Lana Lima Steudler of Los Angeles, CA and Leo Carreau Lane Brady of Charlotte, NC.
She is survived by her incredibly kind and loving caregivers of eight years, Anie O’Connor, Theresa Colton and Guadalupe Medina. The family was truly blessed to have such an amazing team all these years.
Mary was a lifelong member and Deacon of Huguenot Memorial Church. She was also a member of the Manor Club, the Bartow-Pell Mansion, and of course, her beloved Shenorock Shore Club since 1946.
She was an accomplished artist beginning watercolor classes at the Pelham Art Center, at the age of 65, under the guidance of Eleanor Miller and known for her floral paintings and portraits.
A celebration of her life will be on September 30, 2017 at Huguenot Memorial Church, 901 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham Manor, NY. At11am A reception will be held in the Church’s Schram library following the Memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huguenot Memorial Church, 901 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham Manor, New York.
