She was born on January 5th, 1941 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Joe Archie, Sr and the late Leolor Wright.
At a young age she migrated to New York to finish school and to work in order to send money back home to assist with the care of her younger siblings. She was the oldest of nine (9) children.
In 1960, her oldest child was born, Wiliam (Howard). Thereafter, she met her husband, Walter W. Williams (who preceded her in death in 1981) and as a result both her daughters were born, Gwendolyn (Gwen) and Wanda (Gail).
For decades she was devoted and played such a huge role in her family’s church, Christ Temple Baptist Church, NY, NY; founded by her late aunt Rev. Drucilla Fordham. In which she insisted that her children and grandchildren attend.
In 2001 she built her home from ground-up in Bushkill, PA. She resided there until 2011 and then migrated back to New York, to New Rochelle where she resided until her death.
Viola was such a whole-hearted believer in God, so full of life and was such a hardworker. She loved and helped everyone. She was the matriarch and foundation of her entire family. She and her husband extended themselves by opening their home to so many….family and friends. Whenever anyone needed her she was there for everyone with no hesitation. She also loved to cook, sing and celebrate life with her family.
She leaves behind her three (3) children; William (Howard) who is married to Janet, Gwendolyn (Gwen) and Wanda (Gail) who is married to Calvin; her grandchildren, Tiffanee, Latoya (Licia), Ebonee, Vondell (Von) and Cahron; four (4) great-grandchildren; Janiya, Jayden, Mykel and Christal as well as sisters, brothers (3 of which preceded her death) nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
Now that God has called her home to be with Him she will be truly missed by all.
