Youland T. Yarde, died October11, 2019, with her family by her side in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Youland was born on June 13, 1941, in Georgetown, Guyana where she obtained her nursing degree from Georgetown Public Hospital. She obtained her master’s degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. She retired from a successful nursing career at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. She later moved to Greensboro to be close to family.
She was an active member of Trinity St Paul Episcopal Church in New Rochelle, NY, and of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer since moving to Greensboro to be with family.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling the work with friends and spending time with her family. She often spoke of her travels to Australia, London, Turkey, Paris and most memorable, her trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. Friends described her as a “Special Kind of Lady”, one who would go out of her way to comfort others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Warner and Andrew Thomas.
Youland is survived by her daughter, Youland Williams (Albert), son, Deryck Yarde (Cheryl). Siblings, Linda Adams, Joy, Esther, Hazeline, Andrew, Jennifer, Edward, Douglas, David, Oswald and Susan Thomas, granddaughters, Caitlin Yarde, Ashley and Briana Williams Beloved, Herman Connell (UK), and cousins Melvin and Terry Gill and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10:30 am with viewing from 9:00am – 10:15 at Trinity St. Paul Episcopal Church, 311 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, NY 10801. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York.
