Morris Kujawski

Morris Kujawski passed away aged 102 ½ on December 17, 2022 in Bronx, NY. He was born in Lodz, Poland on May 21, 1920 to Zukena (Alter) and Chana Bawelnik. During World War II, he was first imprisoned in the Lodz Ghetto and then transferred to Auschwitz. He and a younger brother were the sole surviving members of the family. Following the war, Morris and his beloved bride Sally immigrated to the United States where they created a new life for themselves and welcomed two sons. He set up shop in the Bronx as a decorator and was a master craftsman with textiles. He continued to work well into his eighties, although he closed the store prior to Sally’s death in 1985. Staunchly independent, he never remarried although his relationship with his girlfriend Sonya lasted three decades. Following the death of his elder son Allen, Morris insisted on living alone until a broken hip required him to go into rehab. The family is extremely grateful for the loving care that he received from the staff of Pelham Parkway Nursing Care & Rehab Facility over the past five and a half years. He is survived by his younger son Marvin, daughter-in-law Madeleine, granddaughters Sara and Beth, and former daughter-in-law Cindy. A private graveside service will be held.
